At the time of the traditional DPG Spring Meetings in March, the Surface Science Division organises a virtual conference to enable scientific and also informal exchange between our young scientists and established researchers despite the pandemic. The conference offers an exciting programme of keynote talks, mini symposia and interactive poster sessions, which follow the known format of regular spring meetings, but make full use of the new possibilities of online meetings. Especially for the important inter-sectional exchange, we also cordially invite members of neighbouring divisions to submit, present and discuss surface-relevant contributions in the broader sense.

In particular we would like to refer to the traditional Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award and encourage young scientists to apply!

We all experience a very special situation, which demands a lot from all of us and can only be mastered by prudent and responsible actions. Let us all work together to keep up the lively scientific and personal exchange within our community through this online Spring Meeting. In particular the youngest generation of surface scientists should have the possibility to experience this important aspect of scientific research. Please support this with your participation, and let’s hope we can soon after return to meeting (and singing 😉 ) “life”, all together and healthy! Many thanks for your support!
